It's my 14th birthday and I got to see my buddy Stanley! He reminds me of my cousin Tollie. We start waving at each other from two blocks away....and "my people" think my eyes are failing, course they think I'm getting deaf too! Who says an old dog can't pull a few tricks?
People say you should try something new each year, maybe I'll take up surfing? But then again what do 'people' know? Maybe I'll ask Stanley what he thinks?

I got "taken" to a quilt show last saturday. I haven't been to one in ages. They only let me go to the outdoor ones. It was a nice walk through town but it got kinda hot, good thing I had cold water along. I met one of my favorite authors, Earlene Fowler. She writes light mysteries with the settings on the central coast of California.

My 'cousin' Tollie was really glad to see me...and I was glad to see him too! We're getting to be kinda old geezers but we can still chase a stick a few times before we have to take a break. I think Tollie likes hanging out with me better than his cats. I sure like his farm, lots of places to explore and swim. Heard we might get baths this weekend.

Natchez Trace Parkway

Here I am on the 'Trace'! We voted this road one of our all time favorites! We drove all 443 miles of it, from Natchez to Nashvillle. We stopped alot to see the trails left by the Natchez, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek and Cherokee peoples. And they have FREE campgrounds too!

We stopped in Natchez to see the antebellum homes like Longwoood (1860) and the Natchez Indians. We had a real nice camping spot with this view of the Mississippi River, where I could dream of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer!

'My People' had milestone birthdays this year and boy did they have a great party! Nate and his family threw a nice shindig even with presents.....but I was stuck at work...ya know I'm the finest guard dog on the planet!
Houston is smart, they made a park, Buffalo Bayou Park, right under the freeway, you can ride a bike, a horse, fly a kite or play disc golf. It's pretty fun, we might have to try it more often...but I keep thinking it looks like a frisbee.

Houston...it's worth it!

This is Catrina (apparently she hasn't heard the Surgeon General's warning)! She's waiting for the Day of the Dead Festival in November! Wish we could go!
The cows were on parade while we were there and 'my people' found this Huichol Indian man who made the mask we got for 'my' cousin Nick! Guadalajara is a pretty city and huge, some say 6 million people.

Guanajuato or "Frog"

Here I am hanging out with Fred, Lynn, Steve, Lila and of course "my people, Bill" before the rally. Guanajuato means Frog in spanish. This colonial city is built on hills with one way tunnels running though connecting the parts of town. Guanajuato is known for silver mining, has a european feel to it, a large and good University, and The Valencia Cathedral which has an alter made of gold.

Another interesting old colonial city know for it's ceramic factories. The town Plaza has a statue of Father Miguel Hildago, a well educated liberal priest who questioned the policies of the church and the government and was eventually executed.

The street vender is selling fried pig skins. "My people" won't even let me try them...but they look yummy!

San Miguel Allende

San Miguel Allende is 6300 feet high! It's a beautiful old (1500s) colonial city, resembles a spanish or italian hill town with cobble stone streets and sidewalks winding through the city. They claim to have the most fesivals of any city in Mexico. They also have one of the prettiest Cathedrals . The guard dogs here have a better view from the rooftops than I do! Wonder what they get paid?

'My people' loved Zacatecas, especially the mask museum, the biggest in the world. They went on a mine tour too. It's not too touristy here but it sure is windy! Our RV park has lots of these green pots. They even put them on the roofs for decoration down here. Hummm maybe we could fit one in the RV?

I had to work on Thanksgiving, it was my 'job' to watch the turkey. We got to camp with the Hammack Family out in Quartzsite, Arizona. It sure was a fun time, they're lots of fun and they can sure cook! But don't play poker with them...they'll steal your money!

Today, we were watching the sufing competition and heard the cannons go off on the USS Lynx (replica of an 1812 War clipper schooner) a 122 foot tall ship. It sailed into Morro Bay. They're talking about tearing down the old power plant in the background.

Calistoga is a great place to take a walk. Lots of people stop and pet me. I dream of a new yellow ride and make new friends. Some of them are kinda quiet....like me.

I wonder if I could learn to drive? I think we saw this pretty car at the Calsitoga Car Show.

William da Duck and I said our good-byes in Dawson Creek, Canada. William and his people headed east and we headed south. It took two and a half days, but we're back in the 'lower 48'! "My people" are giving me a little break from riding in the bus....I'm enjoying rolling in the grass.

In Alaska they have 'growlers'. The 'yellow jeep people' gave us their 'growler' from The Haines Alaska Brewing Company, so when we were there we filled it up and emptied it again. 'My people' say it was real tasty......I need to practice my begging techniques.

'My people' won't let me go with them on their nightly bear 'looking' along the Chilkoot River. They think I might get eaten....but I hear that Tom and Bill get a little too close sometimes! Good thing my Auntie Kathy and Uncle Doug love me...ya never know when your people might be a bears taco!

Eagles come to Haines to spend the winter. 'Geezers, dogs and ducks' come in the summer!Heather Lende lives here all the year and writes wonderful articles for newspapers and magazines, a great book and is a comentator for NPR. Heather makes you want to move here.....maybe even in the winter.

Denali National Park is 'beeee-u-ti-ful'! We loved looking at the pretty scenery, rainbows and wildlife....inspite of the rain and snow showers. The fireweed has gone to seed and we've seen the "termination dust" otherwise known as snow. Alaskans say it's time to head to the lower 48 but we have more to see and do!

We heard that one of the best places to buy Diamond Willow was in Sterling, Alaska. So after wading thru bogs, full of mosquitos and sawing down trees (which are now on the roof of the RV) we decided to actully go to a place that sells it.....just for some 'window shopping'. We got to meet Roy Baldwin, whose been cutting diamond willow up in northern Alaska for 30 years. He taught us lots of stuff ...............Roy doesn't do chain saw carving, but he's got a tree full of 'em!

We camped on a bluff overlooking where the Kenai River meets the Cook Inlet. The round the clock entertainment was watching hundreds of fisherpersons, shoulder to shoulder 'dip netting' for salmon. What a sight to see. We 'splurged' one day and had dinner at the "Bus" around the corner......Alaskans like to have restaurants in old buses.

Today we went to see the Oceans Exhibit and walk on the beach; where we saw a bald eagle and another eagle family in their nest. It's fun to watch the float planes take off on Beluga Lake too. It was a beautiful day in Homer, Alaska!

On our way to Palmer to see the Musk Ox and Raindeer, we stopped for the night beside this lake. We think it was Long Lake. We met some nice people who invited us join their campfire. I might take up rock climbing. I've been watching the moutain goats as we ride thru the mountains.......I bet I can do that!

This is near the town of Chitina on the Copper River where the best tasting salmon are swimming by! We camped right on the banks of the river in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, which is 6 times larger than Yellowstone National Park!

We finally made it to Chicken, Alaska...traveling on a very bumpy and narrow dirt road over the moutains. Our top speed for most of the way was 10mph. Looks like we need another bath. That's a gold dredge in the upper left of this picture. (We haven't struck our riches yet panning for gold, but we tried). Chicken is famous not only as the home of author Anne Purdy Hobbs, but they have the biggest and tastiest cinnamon rolls! You can make a meal of 'em! And we did!

He and Tom made 100 ham radio contacts, even tho our generator was acting up. (We ran an extention cord from Jan and Tom's rig over to ours).

Here I am on the banks of the Yukon River in Dawson City waiting for the George Black Ferry. It was a busy day, we had to wait three hours to cross the river, but it was a free ride. You can see the 'Top of the World Hwy' on the other side of the river.

This is our view on June 1, 2006 as we began our trip to Canada and Alaska. We were on Canadian Hwy 1 near Chilliwack, British Columbia, following our friends RV. We're traveling with our friends Jan and Tom and of course William and his 'Chick'! We took a rest stop along the Thompson River and watched a really long train snake along the riverbed.

My formal name is Francis Albert,(see my blue eyes) but I answer to Frankie or Fur!

I was born in northwestern Ohio on the Fourth of July 1995. My 'Grandmother' (she doesn't really like to think of herself as that....but I do) removed me from a neglectful home when I was very young. That same day I was adopted by 'My People' and separated from my two sisters and one brother. My father (Quall) and brother (Hawk, who looks just like me) continued to live with my grandparents in Ohio. I became a full time RVer on January 15, 2002 and travel all over the north American continent with 'My People'.
